First Day of School

This First Day of School Halloween costume is super simple to make, and yet you’ll likely be the only one at your upcoming holiday gathering dressed this way. All you need is nice clothes and something to write “First Day of School” on, like a chalkboard.

Where’s Waldo

For a last minute adorable costume, nothing beats Where’s Waldo. You’ll want as many pieces of red-and-white-striped clothing as you can find. A pair of round, thick-framed black glasses will complete the look.

Homemade Lego Costume

Save money with DIY Halloween costumes. This Homemade Lego Costume is remarkably easy to make, requiring only low-cost items you can readily find at any Dollar Store. You’ll need a cardboard box to start, and a bit of spray-paint goes a long way in creating that glossy Lego look your friends and family will recognize.

Visit The Costume Shop

A last-minute trip to The Costume Shop (960 King Street East) is a completely valid option. Just a 10-minute drive from Cedar Towers Apartments (10 George Street South), this local boutique has an awesome lineup of adult Halloween costumes, certain to spark some inspiration and enthusiasm for the upcoming holiday.

This exciting weekend event also includes a beer garden, and don’t worry, there’s plenty of fun for the kids too. With food and retail vendors, a children’s bouncy tent, an indoor tea room, music, dancing and plenty of contests, there’s entertainment suited for every age group.

Five kilometres away, Olympia Court Apartments (72 Alison Avenue) is another Williams and McDaniel property located just a few minutes from the Games so you won’t have to travel far to soak up the festivities.

Scrambled Eggs with Goat’s Cheese and Rocket

Up your scrambled egg game by creating Donal Shekan’s Scrambled Eggs with Goat’s Cheese and Rocket. This recipe combines the simple breakfast staple of scrambled eggs with fresh arugula leaves, cheese and a buttery croissant base. For best results, season your eggs with sea salt and black pepper and thoroughly stir the goat’s cheese and butter. Green spring cleaning essentials

apartments for rent in Cambridge, green living, cleaning, Cambridge Apartments, Apartments Cambridge, Apartments for Rent in Cambridge, Cambridge apartment rentals, Apartments in Cambridge, Apartment rentals in Cambridge, Cambridge Apartments for RentWhen it comes to cleaning, residents might opt for store-bought supplies that are filled with harmful chemicals, harsh cleaning agents and toxins, which can cause home air pollution and adverse health effects. As an alternative, renters can opt for green cleaning supplies that are not only cost-effective; they’re also made with environmentally friendly materials. Our preferred property manager, Williams and McDaniel, has put together suggestions to help residents of the Cedar Towers Apartments and Olympia Court Apartments to create their own green cleaning supplies.

Drains

Tackle the unpleasantness of clogged drains in your apartment’s bathroom and kitchen by combining baking soda, white vinegar and boiling water. Sprinkle baking soda down the drain, pour the vinegar down after and let fizz for five to 10 minutes. Chase the first two ingredients with boiling water and repeat this process at least once a month.

Windows

All you need to maintain sparkling, spotless windows and mirrors is a spray bottle mixture of water and white vinegar. Apply the solution on the surface of windows and mirrors and scrub with newspaper. Newspaper will not cause streaking on glass and will minimize waste produced.

Carpets and Rugs

Keep the carpet featured throughout Williams and McDaniel’s Olympia Court Apartments clean and avoid permanent damage by using ingredients like liquid soap, cornmeal, club soda, detergent and cornstarch. Different combinations of these ingredients can be used based on what was spilled and how long ago it was spilled. For the best cleaning results, clean up spills and stains immediately after they occur.

Appliances

Cleaning certain appliances, such as ovens and microwaves, can be a tricky ordeal. Get started on cleaning by combining baking soda and water to form a paste and covering appliances with it. Let it soak for a few hours or let it sit overnight and wipe away to reveal a crystal clean appliance.

Tiled Spaces, Kitchen Counters and Wood Flooring

Kitchen counters and tiled surfaces are known to collect dust, stains and food spills and can be restored to their clean appearance by using baking soda and water or vinegar and lemon juice. If the stains or spills you’re dealing with at Cedar Towers Apartments are particularly messy, add salt into the mixture. Naturally disinfect countertops with three tablespoons of liquid soap, two cups of water and 25-30 drops of tea tree or other essential oils. Enhance hardwood floors by applying a mixture of warm water and white vinegar.

Make your spring cleaning green by using some of these inexpensive and simple natural cleaners. Located at 10 George Street South and 72 Alison Avenue, Williams and McDaniel’s Cedar Towers Apartments and Olympia Court Apartments provide current and prospective Cambridge residents with two convenient locations, unparalleled amenities and great service.
