Honoring Remembrance Day in Cambridge

remembrance day Cambridge, red poppy Cambridge, Cambridge Apartments, Apartments Cambridge, Apartments for Rent in Cambridge, Cambridge apartment rentals, Apartments in Cambridge, Apartment rentals in Cambridge, Cambridge Apartments for RentRemembrance Day is November 11th. This holiday commemorates the sacrifice and commitment of the past and present members of Canada’s armed forces. Our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, believe this day is important and want to help you find a way to participate in this year’s holiday. For today’s post, the team has a few simple suggestions on what to do on November 11th for their Cambridge apartment residents.

Royal Canadian Legion services

The Royal Canadian Legion will be hosting Remembrance Day services throughout the city of Cambridge beginning in the morning on Tuesday, November 11th. Many of the services taking place are located near Williams and McDaniel’s properties. For example, the Galt Branch 121 (82 Ainslie Street) will meet at Legion Hall (4 Veterans Way) at 9:30 a.m. The event includes a parade to the Cenotaph in Queen’s Square. Legion Hall is only a two-minute drive or eleven-minute walk from Cedar Towers (10 George Street).  Piano music and refreshments will be provided between services at Idea Exchange (1 North Square), a five-minute drive from Olympia Court Apartments (72 Alison Avenue).

Music events

Listening to music can be a meaningful way to commemorate the commitment of others, past and present. Music for Remembrance Day will be taking place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (810 King Street East) beginning at 12:15 p.m. This free event will feature organ music. The church is an eight-minute drive from the Executive Suites (10 George Street South).

Wear a poppy

A long-standing tradition of Remembrance Day is to wear a red poppy. The red poppy became a way of honoring those who have fallen in war when, following World War I, the flower could be found in bloom in some of the war’s most tragic battlefields. Poppies are worn from the end of October through to November 11th in commemoration.

Watch the national service

The National Ceremony commemorating Remembrance Day will once again take place in Ottawa. This special event held at Memorial Hall will be broadcast nationwide. Watch a live stream of the event online.

The Williams and McDaniel team is hoping that this November 11th is a meaningful day for you as you observe Remembrance Day in Cambridge. For more information about our Cambridge locations, make sure to visit our website today.

Add storage space to your apartment with double-duty furniture

apartments for rent in Cambridge, storage, furniture, apartment living, Cambridge Apartments, Apartments Cambridge, Apartments for Rent in Cambridge, Cambridge apartment rentals, Apartments in Cambridge, Apartment rentals in Cambridge, Cambridge Apartments for RentOptimize the space in your Cambridge apartment with double-duty furniture. Furniture that offers up dual function will not only give you more space, but it will also save you from spending money on additional pieces of furniture. Effortlessly turn beds into desks and tables and convert sofas into bunk beds. To help Cedar Towers Apartments and Olympia Court Apartments residents take advantage of these multi-functional furnishings, our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some ways that double-duty furniture will help add storage space to your home.

Beds

Take advantage of under-bed storage for your out-of-season clothing, bedding, bulk purchases and even gifts that you’ve purchased in advance. For a standard-sized bed with space underneath, fill shallow, wide storage containers, preferably with wheels, and slide them underneath the bed. If you’d like to conceal your storage technique, bed skirts will hide your storage smarts and will dress up the bed. There are also beds available that have been created with storage in mind and feature large, deep drawers fitted right into the structure of the bed. These are a great idea for any bedroom, especially a kid’s room. Drop by C&G Solid Wood Furniture and take a look at their bedroom collections that offer built-in storage options and exceptional quality. The Cambridge apartments are a 14-minute drive from the store located at 434 Beaverdale Road.

Ottomans

While ottomans already have so many uses like footstool, resting space for snacks and home to all of your remotes, ottomans can also be used for storage. Located at 2450 Eagle Street North, Ashley Furniture HomeStore has a large selection of stylish and affordable furnishing including ottomans, dining sets, accents for your office, home entertainment and much more. The store is an eleven-minute drive from both the Cedar Towers Apartments and the Olympia Court Apartments.

Storage Bench

Keep your apartment’s entryway clear of clutter and odds and ends by purchasing a storage bench. This piece is perfect because it will function as a bench when guests arrive and need to remove their footwear, but it can also eliminate disorganization with its storage capabilities. You can place it near your front door, the window or anywhere else where extra storage or seating is needed. Add even more storage function to it by including wicker baskets underneath for an easy-to-reach home for gloves, keys, sunglasses and even mail. For a wide selection of stylish storage benches, visit Urban Barn at 60 Pinebush Road #M5. The store is bursting with contemporary designs that will look exquisite in your apartment and is only a 12-minute drive from the apartments.

With the help of double-duty furniture, you can enjoy an abundance of space without purchasing multiple pieces of furniture or sacrificing your personal style. Located at 10 George Street South and 72 Alison Avenue, Williams and McDaniel’s Cedar Towers Apartments and Olympia Court Apartments are an ideal rental option for those who are currently on the market.

For additional information about fishing, consult the Grand River Conservation Authority’s Fishing Brochure. Visitors can enjoy 80-kilometres of trail networks that have been integrated into the Trans Canada Trail system and offer the perfect place to walk around. Along the trail there are 19 access points and the Main Map is a great resource for those who have questions about historical significances, distances and access points.

Geocaching

Geocaching is a popular activity that combines the outdoors and wilderness with technology. Played all around the world with individuals who call themselves “adventure seekers,” this high-tech treasure hunt uses GPS devices and imagination. Hidden containers are hidden in the wild and it is up to players to locate these containers. This activity is permitted in 10 of the Grand River’s conservation areas.

Camping

Turn the day of fun into a whole weekend by spending the night on the banks of the Grand River.
