For thousands of years, highland games have been celebrating Scottish culture through competition and entertainment, not just in Scotland but in all parts of the globe. As Cambridge residents, we’re lucky enough to have our own instalment of the traditional event right here in our own town. This year, Williams and McDaniel Property Management has put together a blog in anticipation of the 2015 Cambridge Highland Games.
Cedar Towers (10 George Street South) is just a stone’s throw — or hammer’s throw — away from the Games (200 Churchill Drive). It’s about a three-minute drive from Cedar Towers to the Games (or a 20-minute walk), so no cab is necessary.
This year, the Cambridge Highland Games get underway July 17th and 18th and include events ranging from piping and drumming competitions and sheep dog demonstrations, to heavy events competitions and tug-o-war competitions. This exciting weekend event also includes a beer garden, and don’t worry, there’s plenty of fun for the kids too. With food and retail vendors, a children’s bouncy tent, an indoor tea room, music, dancing and plenty of contests, there’s entertainment suited for every age group.
Five kilometres away, Olympia Court Apartments (72 Alison Avenue) is another Williams and McDaniel property located just a few minutes from the Games so you won’t have to travel far to soak up the festivities.
Whether you’re visiting, competing, or interested in volunteering in this year’s Cambridge Highland Games, you can find out more information on their website. For those interested in purchasing tickets ($17 for adults, $13 for students/seniors), you can do so online.
Our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, looks forward to the crowds of people who travel from all over to see the Cambridge Highland Games, and they hope you too will enjoy this exciting upcoming event in our community.
